Steve was born on November 7, 1962 to John “Don” and Lorna (Larson) Steiner. He graduated from Potosi High School. Steve was united in marriage to Pam (Fann) Steiner in 1985 and they were blessed with two sons.
Steve's working career included several diverse occupations at which he excelled. He always gave his employers his very best effort. His last several years were devoted to managing Oak Creek Woods apartment complex in Platteville. He dutifully served his residents and became like family to many of the elderly living there.
Steve was injured in a tree cutting accident in 1998 and became a paraplegic. Though bound to a wheel chair, he never allowed his disability to dampen his spirit or love for life. If any job could be accomplished from a wheelchair, Steve found a way to do it. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Among his many hobbies were hunting, fishing, trapping, and woodworking. With the help of his dad and brothers, he continued to actively and successfully participate in all of his hobbies even after becoming disabled.
He is survived by the love of his life, Pam; sons, James and David (Tori) and granddaughter Falynn all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Also surviving are his mother, Lorna of Platteville; siblings, Chuck (Gail), Greg (Celeste), Mark (Kathy) all of Potosi; Tom (Shirley) of Pembine, WI; Laurie (Terry) Patzner of Hazel Green; and Molly (Gerry) Carns of Platteville. Survivors also include many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Debra.
