Obituary
Stanley P. Wunderlin, 86, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cuba City, Wisconsin. Father Dave Flanagan and Deacon Bill Bussan will con celebrate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a parish rosary at 3:45 p.m., visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass at the church. Following the committal service, there will be a luncheon held at the Platteville Elk's Lodge, 50 S. Oak St., Platteville, WI. Memorials may be made to the Stan Wunderlin Memorial Fund. Stan was born on April 11, 1932 in Platteville, son of Joseph and Laura (Linden) Wunderlin. He was united in marriage to Carol R. Duggan on June 7, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. Stan was a loving, devoted husband, father, and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School and Platteville High School. He was a carpenter for Eastman Cartwright and Platteville Lumber Company. In 1960 he became owner and operator of Wunderlin Builders, Inc. for 33 years. He also manufactured floor and roof trusses for 18 years. He retired and sold the construction business to his son, Michael, on January 1, 1993. He later did lawn and garden work and home inspections. He served on the Platteville Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years, and Platteville City Council from 1973 to 1977, where he was council president for one year. He later served on the city council for three years. Stan always enjoyed playing euchre, and working on his rental properties with his wife, Carol, and being outdoors.
Stan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol; five children, Kevin (Christine) Wunderlin and Michael (Sue) Wunderlin of Platteville; Duane (Beth) Wunderlin of Waunakee, WI; James (Kay) Wunderlin of Denham Springs, LA; and Karla (Wes) Unke of Clinton, IA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; sixteen step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Schulte and Doris Kitto; two brothers, Mark Wunderlin and Wayne (Kris) Wunderlin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Dusti Wunderlin, brothers, Lawrence, Ray, David, Donald and Cletus, sisters-in-law, Lucille, Carol A., Helen and Marlene, brothers-in-law, Dale Leffler, Don Kitto and Joe Schulte.
