Barry Ellis

He was such a great band conductor. I was in honor band my senior year 1995. I loved his enthusiasm toward the band. He will be sadly missed.

His life song will live on through the music of all of those he has taught, performed with and met.

Having just called the UWP Alumni Office for some basketball information, I learned of the tragic recent passing of Dr. Ellis, a genuine gentleman, classic and classy musician and a mentor and friend to countless alum and community members. I was so stunned and saddened by his passing that I could hardly fathom this; he was so full of life and talent and concern for everyone! He befriended me so many times and always special....I cannot make this memorial service but rest assured my thoughts and prayers are with his family and the music faculty. God Bless! Dear Terri, Sarah, and Daniel, My heart breaks for you at the loss of your wonderful husband and father. We all learned from him, enjoyed his humor, respected his musicianship and professionalism, and admired his joie de vivre. He leaves a legacy of love, compassion, and great talent.
