Obituary
Mary Jean Lyght, 78, of Livingston, Wisconsin, died peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. (Noon), Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Jean was born on January 12, 1940 in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Len and Nellie (Steinbach) Harty. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1957. On July 11, 1959 Jean was united in marriage to Gale Lyght at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2005. She worked many years at Dick's Supermarket, Platteville, before retiring. Jean was a content person who loved helping anyone in need. She always thought of others before herself. She enjoyed staying active by playing euchre, baking and cooking. She especially enjoyed being outside in her yard and flower garden. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life.
Jean is survived by her five children, Sandra (Jim) Schneider, Kevin (Chris) Lyght, Tracy Lyght, Paul (Deena) Lyght, and Vicki (Alfred) Jacobson; 11 grandchildren, Cody, Jennifer, Jackie, Joan, Kevin, Tyler, Erinn, Zach, Matt, Tiffany and Michael; 16 great-grandchildren, Braedon, Elliza, William, Mira, Tarrin, Taitin, Trigg, Rilyn, Tayva, Matlie, Casin, Camdin, Coy, Penelope and Baby K and Baby B; one sister, Darlene Larson, and brother-in-law, Jack Grampovnik. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, Diane, parents, sisters, Peg Chadwick and Judy Grampovnik, father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Bernice Lyght, special uncle, Charles Steinbach, brothers-in-law, Wendell and Doug Lyght, Roger Schroeder, Loren Chadwick, Richard Larson, Richard Shanley, sisters-in-law, Arlene “Sue” Lyght and Anita Schroeder.
The family would like to thank, Dr. Ridgely, Dr. White, Dr. Hermann and staff of Medical Associates and Grant County Hospice for all of their concern and care given to our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
