LeRoy was born on March 17, 1934 in Platteville, Wisconsin, the son of George and Mabel (Stark) Genthe. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Joyce A. Rawson, on September 19, 1953. He is now reunited with her after being apart for four years. LeRoy served in the 32nd Division of the Wisconsin National Guard, also known as the Red Arrow Division, as a cook/baker. After his service, he and Joyce settled in Cuba City where he went to work for his brother, Bob, at the Genthe Body Shop. In his final working years he went back to being a baker for Dick's grocery store in Platteville. After retirement LeRoy spent 16 years as a crossing guard for the Cuba City Police Department. He loved the kids he helped cross the street and would have treats in his pockets for them and every holiday he would dress up to bring smiles to their faces. LeRoy played semi-pro baseball for the Platteville Cardinals. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, fishing, bowling, and walking around Cuba City to say hi to everybody. LeRoy was also instrumental in establishing Platteville Youth Bowling at Arcade 3.

LeRoy is survived by three children, Randy Genthe of Madison; Sandra (Mark) Ambrosius of Sun City West, AZ; Kevin (Colleen) Genthe of Richland Center; seven grandchildren, Aaron Ambrosius, Luke (Rachel) Genthe, Brenda Ambrosius, Tia (Robb) Gust, Makayla Louis, Taylor Genthe, and Austin Genthe; sister-in-law, Phyllis Genthe; and 23 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; lovely wife; and siblings, Dorothy (Alvin) Schoen, Virginia (Walter) Wenzel, Charles (Grace), George (Ethel), Robert (Lawana), Roger (Virginia), Frank (Madge), Harold (Phyllis), and twins, who were still born. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.

Sandi, Kevin & Families: I was so sorry to hear of your Dad's death. However, I realize he was not enjoying good health. Unfortunately, we are flying to Florida for the week-end to visit my brother who is terminally ill, and won't be home until late Monday afternoon. Our thoughts are with you. He was a good friend to us. Ruth Rogers

Kevin, I'm sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Hopefully you find peace and comfort knowing he is reunited with your Mom. I was always envious of how supportive your parents were, traveling many miles to watch you play adult softball. Much love to you and your family during this difficult time. ❤
