James A. “Jim” Speth, of Platteville, formerly of Belmont, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Edenbrook, Platteville. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont, Wisconsin. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Jim was born on October 15, 1925, in Belmont, the son of Albert and Lillian (Steinhoff) Speth. Jim was a proud lifelong farmer in rural Belmont. He was a faithful companion and friend with a sweet, gentle spirit.
He is survived by his long term companion, Darlene Blackbourn; one brother, Art (Patsy) Speth; sister-in-law, Dorothy Speth; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lillian Speth; brother, Lester Speth; and nephew, Scott Speth.
