Phyllis E. Runde, 78, of rural Platteville, died on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. Father John Blewett will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2018 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a parish rosary at 3:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church. Phyllis was born on July 5, 1940 in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, the daughter of Wilbur “Mike” and Alice (Pluym) Wiederholt. She was united in marriage to Everett Runde on September 29, 1959 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prairie Corners. Phyllis attended St. Joe's Grade School and graduated from St. Clara Academy at Sinsinawa Mound. In her younger years, Phyllis enjoyed horseback riding and later, enjoyed helping Everett on the farm, especially, taking care of the calves. She also enjoyed traveling and her weekly shopping trips with her sisters. Above all, though, Phyllis loved to spend time with her friends, family, and most of all, her grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Everett, of 59 years; four children, Terry (Liz) Runde, Rick (Kari) Runde, Alan (Donna) Runde, and Janice Runde; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings, Donnie (Anna Mae) Wiederholt, Kenny (Doris) Wiederholt, Ardelle Leibold, and Judy (Carl) Timmerman; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd (Donna) Runde, Faber (Jeanette) Runde, Ruth Runde, and Joyce (Howard) Hull; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Earl (Mary) Runde; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen Wiederholt, Shirley Ricke, Donna (Bob) Tippett, and Pete Leibold, and Kenny Runde; and nieces and nephews, Dale and Randy Wiederholt, Kristine Timmerman, Linda Kern, and Carol Fluhr.
