Ruth I. Hughes, 92, of rural Potosi, died on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at home. According to her wishes there will be no visitation or service. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory of Platteville is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.
Ruth was born in Platteville on December 9, 1926, the daughter of Adolph and Edith (Suhr) Chase. Ruth is survived by two sons, Roger (Sandy) Hughes of Cuba City and Stephen Hughes of Potosi; two daughters, Judith Hughes of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Jean Melssen of Belmont, WI; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lawrence Chase; and two sisters, Velma VanNatta and Helen VanNatta.
