Obituary

John William Moody, Sr., 78, of Belmont, Wisconsin died on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery with a potluck luncheon to follow back at the church. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory of Platteville is serving the family. Memorials may be made to the John Moody, Sr. Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

John was born on August 28, 1940 in Darlington, Wisconsin, son of Howard and Margaret (Engelke) Moody. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1958. John was united in marriage to Dorothy Losievsky on December 6, 1958. John and his wife farmed in Belmont, Cuba City, Verona and Dodgeville. He later worked for Nelson Muffler (Cummins) in Mineral Point for a few years and then for 8 years at Land's End, Dodgeville. He was an avid sports fan playing sports and following the Packers and Brewers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, riding horses, and driving the mules in parades, riding motorcycles, working on his I-pad. Mostly though John enjoyed spending time with his family.

John is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, John Moody, Jr.; daughter, Lydra Ann (Mark Hubbard) Moody; brothers, Thomas (Mary Alice) Moody, and Mark (Connie) Moody; sisters, Delores Kamps and Mardele (Buzz) Peterson; brother-in-law, Charles (Peggy) Seymour; close family friend, Tim Eagan and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul and James Moody; sisters-in-law, Marie and Marilyn Moody; brother-in-law, George Kamps.

Tammy and I have great memories of riding horses with John at Wildcat Mountain. He’ll be sadly missed. He was a hilarious story teller. Our condolences to his family.
