Obituary

Harriet M. Burbach, 94, of Cuba City, formerly of Platteville, died on Thursday, January 10, 2018 at Epione Pavilion, Cuba City. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Brenda Whitford will officiate. Burial will be at Big Patch Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Memorials may be made to the family. Harriet was born on August 20, 1924 in Elk Grove Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, daughter of William “Bill” and Mildred (Winn) Peacock. She was united in marriage to Raymond F. “Sands” Burbach on November 29, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1995. Harriet and Ray farmed in Smelser Township, Grant County, for many years. She also worked as a CNA at the Platteville and Cuba City Hospitals, and later retired from the Cuba City Nursing Home. Harriet was a hard working lady; though, as hard as she worked, she did enjoy the time to get away and go fishing, to go on walks, and play a friendly game of cards. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Platteville.

She is survived by her four children, Karen Niehaus, Janice (Bernard) Rupp, James (Terry) Burbach and Tom (Mona) Burbach; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Grace Lorscheter, Jim and Mary Hore, Josephine Faherty. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son-in-law, Doug Niehaus, great-granddaughter, Mildred Niehaus, brothers and sisters-in-law, Matt Lorscheter, Gene and Lureen Hore, Jim Faherty.

I always loved sitting and talking to harriet when I had time. We would talk about everything or she would tell me about her day. She was my favorite! I will miss you, Fly high harriet 😥

To the family of Harriet, My name is Charles Clayton, I do the family genealogy and came across the obituary. I'm so sorry for your loss. Her great grandfather Charles Winn was my 2nd great grandmother, Hannah, younger brother. I would love to correspond with family members if possible.
