Larry was born on January 4, 1959, the son of Francis and Lillian Zimmer. Larry graduated from Bloomington High School in 1977. On February 18, 2006, he was united in marriage to Marti Mares at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Glen Haven. After getting married, Marti and Larry farmed together in Glen Haven. Along with farming, Larry was also an over-the-road semi driver, most currently driving part-time for Gasser's Hardware. Larry was a dedicated volunteer fireman in Glen Haven for over 41 years, rising to 1st Assistant Fire Chief. Larry was a devout Catholic with a heart of gold. He would give anybody in need, the shirt off of his back. He loved to be outside and go hunting. He also took flying lessons. He had many one-liners and words of wisdom that we all called “Larry-isms”. He will be greatly missed by many.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Marti; his mother, Lillian; six siblings, Anna (Joe) Kusilek, Margaret (Bob) Wickenhauser, Gerard (Theresa) Zimmer, Teresa Zimmer, Amy (Neal) Moore, and Mike Zimmer; three step-daughters, Jennifer (Jeremy) Janiak, Christine (Ken) Marshall, and Heidi (Tim) Vosberg; 11 grandchildren; 23 nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis, and many other relatives.
