Peggy L. Greenberg, 66, of Mifflin, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, April 6, 2019 of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Pastor Doug Tremelling will officiate. Burial will be at the Mifflin Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service. Peggy was born on February 10, 1953 in Platteville, Wisconsin, daughter of Leeman and Dorothy (Letcher) Stanton. She graduated from Iowa Grant High School in 1971. She was united in marriage to James “Jimmy” Greenberg on August 5, 1972 at Zion Lutheran Church, Rockford, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 10, 2006. Peggy worked at Lands End for many years. She worked at the House on the Rock Inn, Dodgeville, for the past few years. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, reading, tending to her flowers, and always taking time to watch her favorite soap operas. She served on the Mifflin Cemetery Board, and was secretary of the Thursday night bowling league at Tower Junction, Montfort for many years. She sponsored Peggy's Oldies bowling team for many years.
She is survived by her two brothers, Virgil (Darlene) Stanton, and Daniel (Terry) Stanton; one sister, Eva (Glenn) Esser; god-children, Steve Simmons, Sherry (Simmons) Caplan and Spencer Temperly and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Gloria Woods, brothers-in-law, Michael Simmons, and Bill Woods, nephew, Scott Simmons, and great-nephew, Isaiah Stanton.
