Neva was born in Belmont Township on October 27, 1926, the middle child of Elmer and Lenice (McReynolds) Nodolf. She and her brothers, Ivan and Carl, enjoyed growing up on the family farm south of Rewey, Wisconsin. She married the love of her life, Orville Popp, on June 25, 1949. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1998. Together they raised four children, Jerry, Kathy, Bill, and Nancy. Their 49 years of marriage were punctuated by endless amounts of love and admiration. Prior to owning and operating Popp's General Store, along with her husband, in Rewey, Neva graduated from Rewey High School in 1944 and then attended the Platteville Teacher's College. She also taught at the Peniel Country School for a few years.
To know her was to love her. She was nothing short of a wonderful, loving, and supportive mother and grandmother. Never wanting for much, the simple joys in life meant the most to her. Holidays at her house were filled with the smell of freshly baked rolls and laughter. Her kind, gentle soul made her not only a great confidant but also a very wise woman. Neva's tremendously strong faith was what guided her life, she served the Lord with all of her heart. And when life gave her troubles, she would say, “And this too shall pass.”
Neva leaves behind four children, Jerry (Beckie) Popp, Kathy Miller, Bill (Becky) Popp, and Nancy (Mark) Millard; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, her brother Ivan; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Nodolf, Ruth Enloe, Sarah Popp, and Alyce Popp. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Orville; grandson, Brad Popp; brother Carl; several brothers and sisters-in-law. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Our House Assisted Living for the wonderful care given to Neva these past few years.
