Edward entered the world on October 26, 1940, the son of Homer and Helen (Frick) Zweifel in New Glarus, Wisconsin. His formative years were spent in New Glarus and Montello, Wisconsin. He graduated from Warren High School, Warren, Illinois in 1958. Edward earned bachelor's and master's degrees from UW-Platteville. Always proud of his Swiss heritage, he wrote his thesis on the history of Swiss immigration to Wisconsin. While at Platteville, Edward met and married his one true love and life's companion Mary Marjorie Dresden. Eddie and Marge were married June 6, 1965 at the First United Methodist Church, Platteville. They made their home in East Troy. Together they lovingly raised their two children, Mark and Julie, and enjoyed 35 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2000.

Edward was a teacher at Parkview Middle School in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, for 38 years. An outstanding educator, he influenced the lives of countless students. After retirement, he and Marge returned to Platteville. Ed was a member of the Laflin/St. James Masonic Lodge #247 and the Platteville United Methodist Church. His years after retirement were devoted to his family. He found immense joy in sharing the day-to-day experiences of his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Ed was exceptionally kind and compassionate and he cared deeply about those he loved. He celebrated their milestones and achievements and shared the burden of their sorrows. Ed will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him.

Edward is survived by two children, Mark (Naomi Courtemanche) Zweifel of Minneapolis, Julie (John) Pluemer of Platteville; two granddaughters, Rana Mary (David) Pluemer-Connors and Kallena Ann Pluemer; one sister, Sandra Kilbride-Becker; one brother, Zane Zweifel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn Dresden, Doug (Linda) Dresden, Barbara Strohm and Dorilee (Mark) Miller and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Clair and Anna Dresden; brothers-in-law, George Kilbride, Carlton Dresden, Jerry Strohm and Richard Becker; nephew, Mike Kilbride, and niece, Phyllis Dresden.

My deepest sincere sympathy goes out to Ed's family for he was the best friend I ever had and my high school classmate at Montello High School. We kept in touch throughout the years and I will miss him. Ed was a very caring person and enjoyed life to the fullest. He is in a much better place now and reunited with his mother and father & family members. Rest in peace my friend!
