Obituary

Zelda E. (Trebilcock) Bruun, 96, of Platteville passed away, Tuesday December 18, 2018 at Park Place Assisted Living, Platteville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Shullsburg. Zelda was born on December 18, 1922 in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, daughter of Chester E. and Elizabeth Jane (Laird) Trebilcock. She was united in marriage to Lester C. Bruun on January 8, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1996. Zelda and Lester farmed for many years in the Shullsburg area, then moved to and farmed in the Platteville/Belmont area for many years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Shullsburg and Belmont. Zelda was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 70 years. Zelda graduated from UW-Platteville in the 60's with a BA degree in Art, and later went on to get her Masters Degree in Art. She began her teaching career at the Lancaster School District and later she was hired and taught for many years at Mineral Point Schools. She had many other interests including getting her small plane pilots license.

She is survived by her children, James R. (Patricia) Bruun, Joseph C. (Judith A.) Bruun, Sharon (Tony Hughes) Bruun; daughter-in-law, Judith R. Bruun; twelve grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Amich, Matthew (Michelle) Bruun, Robin (Doug) Digman, Robert (Michelle Dehn) Bruun, Renee (Mike) Weber, Brenda (Danyelle) Mannix, Barbara (Jamie) Baumgartner, Betty (Todd) Herbst, Brian (Sandy) Toay, James (Tina Reuter) Toay, Shelly (Graham) Dahler and Sheila (Matt) Anfang; 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, son, John “Jack” Bruun, her parents, one brother and three sisters.

The family would like to THANK Dr. White and the staff at Medical Associates, Park Place Assisted Living and the staff along with St. Croix Hospice for all their care and concern given to their mother.
