Tyler “Fred” Thomas Weigel, 33, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Thursday, November 14, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:30 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Broske Center, Platteville. Casual dress is requested by the family. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Private family services will be held at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, at a later date with burial at the Blockhouse Cemetery, rural Platteville. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Tyler “Fred” Weigel memorial fund. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
Tyler, “Fred” as many warmly called him, was born on January 20, 1991, in Platteville, Wisconsin, the son of Thomas and Kelli (Kopp) Weigel. He was united in marriage to Catherine “Catie” Wunderlin on March 5, 2016, in Potosi, Wisconsin. Fred was a farmer in Platteville Township, where he farmed with his father, Tom and brother, Jake. Fred had a true love and passion for farming. Fred loved to take his son, Cord, farming and do “daddy dates” with his daughter, Maya. Fred graduated from Platteville High School, class of 2009, where he was active in FFA. When he was a young boy, he wrestled and played youth football. He always enjoyed socializing and telling stories with family and friends. Fred was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Fred is survived by his wife, Catherine Weigel; two children, Maya and Cord Weigel; his parents, Tom and Kelli Weigel; brother, Jake (Abbey) Weigel and their children, Ethan, Greyden and Maci; grandmothers, Geri Brehm and Paula Kopp; mother and father in law, Connie and Bob Haberkorn; brothers-in-law, Shawn (Jill) Wunderlin and their family, Gavin, Hailey, and Preston and Brad Wunderlin and his family, Jared, Tristen and Bentley; grandparents-in-law, Garland & Vyra Gotzinger; many aunts, uncles and cousins; his companions, Doseph Don, Dilly, Tuzi and Pebbles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stephen Kopp, Calvin & Margaret “Peg” Weigel, and Jim Brehm, aunt, Karen Heer, cousin, Jennifer Weigel, friend, Cord LaBarge and his two cats, Toasty and Big Tiddy.
