Obituary

Theodore “Ted” J. Grimes, 71, of Port Orange, Florida formerly of Platteville, Wisconsin died Saturday, March 30, 2024 of an apparent heart attack while vacationing in Jamaica. Ted was born September 12, 1952, the son of Joseph “Joe” and Edith (Murphy) Grimes.  

He was a graduate of the Class of 1971 from Platteville High School.  Ted married Michelle “Shelly” Krohn on February 20, 2009 in Daytona, Florida.  In his early years Ted worked at John Deere and owned and operated Ted's Place Bar. He then owned and operated Ted's Place Trucking and Southwest Asphalt Sealing until his retirement.  He enjoyed watching and going to NASCAR races and was especially proud of his over 50 years in a row going to the Daytona 500.  Ted was also a big Green Bay Packer and Badger fan.  He will be missed by many friends.

Ted is survived by his wife Shelly, son Rob Jackson (Jamie Stebbins), brothers Jerry (Velma) and Doug Grimes and sister-in-law Carol Campbell, mother-in-law Evelyn Krohn, and brothers and sisters-in-laws Scott (Kari) Krohn, Mike (Bonnie) Krohn and Emily Bockhop.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ron and Randy Grimes. sister-in-law Linda Grimes, father-in-law Stanley Krohn and nephew Corey Grimes.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Melby Funeral Home and Crematory in Platteville, WI with a Celebration of Life from Noon until 5:00 PM at the Sports Page in Belmont, WI.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ted Grimes Memorial Fund.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
