Obituary

Rita Livingston of Monona, Wisconsin, passed away on September 25th 2023 at The Heritage Assisted Living Facility in Monona, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held at Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Rita's funeral service at Noon. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Rita was born on December 27, 1924 in Union, Wisconsin (Lima Township), daughter of Clarence and Frankie (Stead) Haney. She was united in marriage to Norman K. Livingston on March 14, 1947 in Platteville WI. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1967.

Rita worked for City of Platteville, Platteville Hospital and UW-Platteville. She also co-owned Livingston Cheese and Liquor store with her husband. She moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1976 and returned to Wisconsin after retiring in 1988. She enjoyed playing bingo, bridge and euchre along with quilting, crocheting and painting. She crocheted many lovely blankets for family and friends.

She is survived by son Terry Livingston and daughter, Debra (Tom) Leffler, son-in-law Randy Theiler and four grandchildren, Lisa (Roger) Willmert, Rob (Lindsay) Livingston, David Leffler and Alexandra (Luke) Rothe, Ivan Doering (honorary son) along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, daughter Vicki, and daughter-in-law Sharon (Lefler) Livingston, brother Clayton and wife Maxine Haney, sister, Evy and husband George Vinger, brother-in-law Charles and wife Letha Livingston, sister-in-law Lenys and husband Floyd “Dutch” Dolphin and brother-in-law Leonard and wife Madge Livingston,

I remember her as being a very pretty and gracious lady in Platteville and believe she and family were neighbors when I was growing up in Platteville..please accept my sincere sympathy in her passing... Respectfully, Carolyn Schuldt PHS 1960
