Please accept my deepest sympathy Bob and family on the recent passing of your daughter...I didn't know her but Bob and his late wife Nancy Poller, were PHS 1960 classmates and wonderful friends...knew Nancy since kindergarten eons ago. I can't attend the service as I recently had a fire and explosion in my apartment building below me on bottom floor...was fortunate to be rescued by firefighters....am awaiting estimate from Service Master early next week... Will be thinking of and praying for all of you, of course Respectfully, Carolyn Schuldt PHS 1960

My deepest sympathy. Nina was a friend in High School but we actually did more together after graduation. My favorite memories with Nina are the two girls only multi day canoe trips in the boundary waters of Minnesota. I had never really canoed before and Nina was so patient in teaching me how to paddle. We also cross country skied several times. I will think of her ever time I enjoy nature, whether it is paddling or cross country skiing. We didn't see each other often but when we did it was always an outdoor adventure.

I'm writing on behalf of the Birkie cabin group that Nina was a part of for so many years. We were all deeply shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. Nina was an important part of the our group that gathered each Birkie weekend to ski, eat - Nina always brought the pie - chat and laugh. We were a mixed group - Birkie and Kortelopet skiers, Birchleggers and newbies, elite and not-so elite waves, competitive and recreational. Nina rounded out our cabin and helped make our weekend a special time. The last of our group to speak with Nina was in March. At that time she expressed her excitement about the Birkebeiner's upcoming 50th anniversary. We will all be thinking of her this coming February. The photo attached in from 2014. That year the ice caves on Lake Superior were accessible on foot, so post-Birkie a number of of went up to see them. They were magical.

My deepest sympathies to all. I only knew of Nina, through mutual friend, Vickie Dunnum. Vickie shared with me what a beautiful person Nina was, and what a warrior she was, until the very end. I "lit" candle 2 in honor of Nina. It seemed to be burning the brightest - something that seemed most fitting for this lovely soul. ❤️

My condolences go out to Nina’s family and all of her many friends. May the depth of your grieving validate her life and the bright light she brought to the world. Her glow and faith transcends death. Her unconditional love for those of us lucky enough to have shared her world, experienced her joys, listened to her stories, and celebrated her triumphs is everlasting. I am blessed to have been one of her many friends and to be a witness to the way she experienced the magnificence of life. It is my prayer that we all follow the bright path Nina showed us how to follow … experiencing the unique love for life that she exemplified. God bless the memory of dear Nina.
