Nelson C. NeCollins, Sr., 76, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died Sunday, May 18, 2025. Funeral services will be at Noon, Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Tammy Clausen will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Chapel Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Nelson was born on February 2, 1949, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, son of Arthur and Lucille (Womack) NeCollins. He was united in marriage to Pamela Hoffman on June 15, 1968, in Platteville.
Nelson graduated from Platteville High School class of 1967. He attended SWTC, Fennimore where he completed the meat cutting program. For 50 years Nelson worked as a meat cutter at various places. He worked at Knebel's Locker, Belmont, Sentry Foods, Cuba City, the Log Cabin, Platteville, FDL Foods, Dubuque and finishing his career at Piggly Wiggly, Platteville. He served in the United States Marine Corp. Nelson enjoyed the outdoors where he liked to hunt, fish and tend to his garden. He was an avid coin collector and always enjoyed tinkering in his basement.
Nelson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pam; three children, Nelson NeCollins, Jr., David (Michelle) NeCollins and Kim (Bauchman) Boelk; eleven grandchildren, Brandon, Brooke, Kenneth, Kelsey, Kaitlyn, Emma, Brian, Violet, Hunter, Michael and Autumn Mae; sister, Linda (Mark Cooper) Larson; two brothers, Donald NeCollins, and Buzzy (Nedra) NeCollins, sister-in-law, Pat Rewey; brothers-in-law, Marshall and Doug Hoffman; nieces and nephews and his cat, Oreo. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Margaret, Janelda and Ruthy, brother, Dennis, nephew, Red, in-laws, Laverne and Martina, sister-in-law Janet, brothers-in-law, Maynard, Randall, Wayne and Ricky.
