Obituary

Neil V. McKenna, 79, of Platteville, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster. A Celebration of Life will be from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Inurnment will be at Lima Union Cemetery at a later date. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers and plants memorials may be made to the Neil V. McKenna Memorial fund. Neil was born on September 30, 1942 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Vincent and Catherine (Eldrenkamp) McKenna. He was the oldest of his four siblings. Neil was united in marriage to Susan Brunton on July 9, 1987 in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Neil lived most of his childhood years on the family farm near Lanark, Illinois. Neil was a life-long truck driver, working many jobs, but most of his career was driving truck from 1973-1998 for Advance Transformer, Platteville. Neil drove over three million miles for Advance Transformer during his career. He enjoyed NASCAR, was a member of Duck's Unlimited. Neil had a great interest in studying and reading about history and firearms.

Neil is survived by his wife, Susan; two sons, Steven McKenna and David (Bridgett) McKenna; grandchildren, Ashley Noble, Chelsea McKenna, Paige McKenna; step-grandchildren, Brittany (Cody) Mikeska, Matthew Moody and Devin Moody; great-grandchildren, Bjorn Bahr and Addisyn Mikeska; two brothers, Jerry (Nancy) McKenna and Ken (Sherri) McKenna; brother-in-law, Steve Clark; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Clark; and numerous aunts and uncles.
