Obituary

Marietta Lee Korpi, 93, of Platteville, WI died Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Agrace Hospice Center in Madison.  She was born on September 7,1931, the daughter of Erven C. and Elizabeth (Hillary) Lee.  Marietta was a graduate of Herrin High School in Herrin, IL.  She attended Platteville Teachers College for two years and this is where she met her loving husband to be, Clifford Korpi.  They were united in marriage on June 14, 1950 in Herrin, IL and lived in Montreal, WI from 1951 to 1988, when Cliff retired, and they moved to Platteville. Marietta and Cliff were married for 71 years before his death on November 12, 2021.  They had spent 17 winters in Mesa, AZ. 

Marietta enjoyed reading and was always learning new things.  She also enjoyed tending to her flowers and listening to religious and classical music.  Admiring great paintings and sculpture was a special pleasure.

Marietta had a personal faith in The Lord Jesus Christ and the family is comforted that she is with Jesus now.

Marietta is survived by her sons, Michael Korpi and Peter (Kristin) Korpi, grandchildren, Joel (Kaylee) Korpi, Faith (Stephen) Jannise, Zachary Korpi, Katie Korpi and Nicholas (Ellie) Korpi, great grandchildren, Autumn Jannise and Cameron Korpi, sister, Jean (Leon) Pick, brother, Paul Lee and sisters-in-law, Janice Lee and Emily Lee.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers Mark and Erven Lee.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Platteville Free Methodist Church.  Reverend Jeff Suits will officiate.  After the service there will be a light lunch and time of fellowship at the Sonshine Center. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville, at a later date.  Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, WI, is serving the family.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com

Marietta was an outstanding Christian woman who lived at Park Place. We and others here will miss her in our Bible studies and at chapel. And we’ll certainly miss seeing her zoom down the hallways of Park Place. She was a treasured friend.
