Obituary

Kent Emmett Mattoon, 89, of Platteville WI, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024 due to natural causes. He was surrounded by his family and the love of his life, Judy.

Kent was born on July 30, 1934, in Galena IL, to Harry and Mary (Hempstead) Mattoon. After leaving the Marine Corp, Kent came back to attend the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, graduating in 1959 with a degree in Agriculture and Biological Science. Kent started a career in 1960 with AC Neilsen in Johnstown PA and Sioux City IA, where he worked for 31 years before retiring.

The Family wishes to thank St Croix Hospice, Christian Servants Home Care, and the doctors at Medical Associates for their excellent care. We would also like to apologize for the decline in banana sales that Platteville is going to experience now that Kent is gone. He loved bananas!

Judy--I just learned of your late husband's passing today in obituaries section...please accept my deepest sympathy....you were a childhood friend of mine and we spent many hours together enjoying each other's company....I lived by Platteville Middle School (old PHS site)...I remember you very well and always found you so welcoming and fun! I have kept updated on many friends I enjoyed when much younger and you are one...think I called you when I was home and possibly caregiving Mom who passed in 2007. Please know thoughts and prayers are with you.... Respectfully, Carolyn Schuldt, PHS 1960
