Obituary

Jonathon David Groom, 42, of Shullsburg, WI died on Saturday, March 8, 2025.  He was born March 7, 1983, the son of Terry and Sherry (Rees) Groom.  Jonathon married Latasha Forbes on February 23, 2008 in Platteville, WI.  He received his degree in Autobody from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore, WI.

Jonathon was self-employed as a carpenter and handyman throughout Grant and Lafayette Counties.  He was truly a “Jack of All Trades”. Jonathon liked to work on cars and played the guitar.  He also enjoyed cycling, snowboarding, snowmobiling and cooking, especially messing around creating his own recipes.

Jonathon is survived by his daughters, Layla, Lorali and Lily and their mother, LaTasha, his parents, Terry and Sherry Groom, sisters, Jamie (Tim) Cummins, Shannon (Clint) Hillary, Erin (Dean, Jr.) Noonan. and Robyn (Jonathan) Ackland, brothers, Jeremy (Tara), Joel (Rachael) and Joshua (Jennifer) and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Leta Groom and Robert and Cora Rees, uncle, Gordon Rees and aunt, Beth Pack.

Memorial services will be held at Noon, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Platteville, WI.  Pastor Dean Noonan, Jr. and Pastor Dave Barna will officiate.   Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Melby Funeral Home & Crematory of Platteville, WI is assisting the family.  Memorials may be made to the Jonathon Groom Memorial Fund.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

I am so terribly sorry to hear of Jonathon's passing. I am pastor Dave's sister Chris. I remember you all coming to church and always commented to Vicki what a beautiful family you have. I pray the Lord holds you all in His loving arms and comforts you during this time.
