John L. Bentz, 80, of Platteville, Wisconsin, passed away on March 29, 2020 at Edenbrook of Platteville. Private funeral services will be held at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. John was born on August 6, 1939 in Lancaster, Wisconsin, the son of Earl and Mary Susan (Spease) Bentz. John was an only child. He grew up on the Families Century Old Farm. John graduated from Platteville High School in 1957. On March 29, 1957 he joined the National Guard and served until May 4, 1963.
John worked on the family farm and drove milk truck for Lone Pine Cheese Factory for several years, then he went to work at Lenn's Feed & Fuel. Upon leaving there, he worked for B & W Milling for 25 years. He loved country music and throwing horse shoes. He was a very active member of the Horse Shoe Association. John was preceded in death by his parents.
