Obituary

Johanna M. Mellor, 83, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, October 9, 2022. Services will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate. Burial will be at Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Cuba City. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grant County Hospice. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Johanna was born on July 28, 1939 in Iowa County, Wisconsin, daughter of Elmer and Clara (Nagel) Osterndorff. She graduated from Cobb High School, class of 1957. She was united in marriage to Dean Mellor on November 28, 1959. Johanna worked in the payroll office for many years at UW-Platteville. She and Dean spent many years at their place in Cassville, Wisconsin, where she enjoyed boating and fishing on the Mississippi. She was passionate about her cooking and baking and liked tending to her garden and flowers. She was an avid Packer and Badger fan.

Johanna is survived by her husband, Dean; two children, Lynn (Al) Weigel and Jeff (Joyce) Mellor; four grandsons, Jason (Barb) Weigel, Aaron Weigel, Nick (special friend, Lauren) Mellor and Luke Mellor; two great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Jameson Weigel; sisters-in-law, Janice Bierman and Pam Kerr; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Clara Osterndorff, father and mother-in-law, Clay and Yvonne Mellor, sister-in-law, Monie Schwartz and brother-in-law, Roger Bierman.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Dean, Lynn and Jeff. Jo will be truly missed by so many. I will cherish the many memories visiting the Mellor's up at the river, but mostly the yearly stop mom and I made to visit them both in Dickeyville. Jo was the best hostess and most amazing cook! I have many of her recipes to cherish. I will miss those big long bear hugs she would greet us with at each visit! One thing for sure, every Packer game that comes on I will hear her voice cheering them on! Rest in Peace without pain, JO. Love, Lori

Dean Mellor, my old friend and co-worker — Jo always greeted me with a cheerful smile and a ready laugh. Often times Jo would pick you up after our shift or, I’d see her up on campus squaring up accounts while I attempted to square up stubborn doors or wobbly drawers. What a wonderful daughter of God.
