Obituary

Jerry E. Selleck, 88, of Chetek, Wisconsin, formerly of Platteville, died on Friday, March 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Platteville Free Methodist Church.  Rev. Jeff Suits will officiate.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Jerry was born on December 31, 1936, in Platteville, the son of Osborne “Bunny” and Helen (Bride) Selleck.  He was united in marriage to Joyce Jones on June 28, 1958, at the Georgetown Church, Smelser Township. Jerry graduated from Platteville High School.  He worked for 31 years at John Deere Dubuque Works, where he started his career in the foundry and later, he was a fabricator.  After retirement he worked at Lands End, Dodgeville for 15 years.  Jerry was a member of the Platteville Free Methodist Church.  He was an avid bowler, horseshoe thrower and Packer fan.  He always enjoyed a good game of cribbage and collecting coins. He cherished every moment spent with family and friends. His eyes lit up when seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Jerry is survived by his wife, Joyce; two children, Cheri (Dave) Hammerstrom and Donald (Beverly) Selleck; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Habeck Nathan (Heather) Waterhouse, Doug Mills and Shelly Moore;  great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Natalie, Mackenzie, Grace, Gavin, Isla, Fidha, Ingrid, Keeva, Victoria, Brenden and Briahna; sister and brothers-in-law, Linda Crain, Wayne Konkle and Guerdon Jones.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James (Sharon) Selleck and sister, Jean Konkle.

Growing up on Lutheran Street in Platteville in the 80s and 90s I had the pleasure of knowing Jerry and Joyce quite well as a child and still think of those days fondly. I was saddened to see this news and will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. I wish you all comfort at this time of great sorrow.

I thought Jerry was one of the nicest and kindest person Ive ever met. Loved spending time with Him and My Father at car shows. Im sincerly sorry I couldnt make the funeral. I got to sick to make the trip. Love Roy Scheffner jr (Chip)
