Obituary

Donna J. Stephens, 91, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the United Methodist Church, Platteville. Burial will be at Whig Cemetery with luncheon to follow back at the United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM Saturday at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Donna was born on November 10, 1932 in Grant County, Wisconsin, daughter of Clinton and Hazel (Bass) Baker. She graduated from Platteville High School, Class of “51”. She was united in marriage to Harlan Stephens on April 3, 1952 at the Platteville United Methodist Church. Donna worked at First National Bank, Platteville, for many years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed doing the “Cookie Corner” at the Annual Christmas Bazaar. She was a member of the Jaycettes, Barely Seniors and Southwest Wisconsin Auto Club. Donna loved playing golf and teaching youth to enjoy the sport that she loved. She always bragged about her "hole-in-one" on number 7 at the Platteville Golf and Country Club.

Donna is survived by her husband, Harlan; three children, Randy (Connie) Stephens, Renee Heiney, and Reid Stephens; three grandchildren, Kandi Stephens, Bill (Amy) Heiney and Clinton (Jaxin) Stephens; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Skylar, Harlan and Leon; one brother, Lee (Marilyn) Baker; sister-in-law, Marilyn Baker; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Judy Stephens and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Glenn Heiney, brothers, Orville and Larry Baker and sister-in-law, Betty Baker.

My sympathy going out to Donna's family. I'll always remember her as she joined us ladies at McDonald's for morning coffee, enjoying music when the Oasis still met, and her enjoying music in the park. R.I.P Donna.
