Obituary

Dean C. Mellor, 86, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, August 10, 2025.  Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate.  Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Cuba City, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to St. Croix Hospice.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Dean was born on July 21, 1939, the son of Clay and Yvonne (Eiling) Mellor.  He was united in marriage to Johanna Osterndorff on November 29, 1959.  She preceded him in death on October 9, 2022.  Dean was very proud of his career working as a plumber that started in his teens.  He became a master plumber where he worked construction and eventually at UW-Platteville, until his retirement.  He had a passion for boating and fishing in Cassville.  He was also an avid Packer and Badger fan.

Dean is survived by his two children, Lynn (Al) Weigel and Jeff (Joyce) Mellor; grandsons, Jason (Barb) Weigel, Aaron Weigel, Nick (Lauren) Mellor and Luke Mellor; great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Jameson Weigel; sisters, Janice Bierman and Pam Kerr; along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Yvonne Mellor, father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Clara Osterndorff, sister, Monie Schwartz and brother-in-law, Roger Bierman.
