Carol Ann Mercer, 77, of Fennimore, formerly of Richland Center, Wisconsin died on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at her home. Private family services will be at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at the Button Cemetery, rural Lone Rock, Wisconsin, at a later date. Carol was born on March 24, 1941 in Richland County, Wisconsin, daughter of Milo “Mike” and Lila (Thompson) Butler. She was united in marriage to Jerry Mercer on May 28, 1994 at the Lone Rock Congregational Church. Carol graduated from Ithaca High School in 1959. She enjoyed listening to music and doing crafts, such as making floral arrangements. Carol especially enjoyed the outdoors; fishing at Cold Springs on the Mississippi, camping, watching and feeding the birds and squirrels, and tending to her garden.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; four children; Teri (Tom Eckhardt) Persinger, Sandra Armstrong, Jerry (Angie) Mercer, and Kevin (Kimberly) Mercer; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant brother.

Jerry and family, We just want to let you know how very sad we are to hear of Carols passing. She was such a joy and a good friend to us. I loved our conversations over the phone and the hugs and good times we shared. We send our love and condolences to you all. She's now an angel in heaven looking over us all just as she was here on Earth .
