Anna Kabele

Anna Mae Kabele, 98, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Southwest Health Center, Platteville. Anna Mae was born on August 1, 1925 in Ellenboro Township, the only child of Walter A. and Delma G. (Boyd) Wolf.

Anna Mae graduated from Platteville High School. She was united in marriage to Ernest Kabele on April 20, 1944 in Platteville. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1991. They farmed all their married life in until Ernest's death. While farming she enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, picking black caps and hunting morels. In 1993 Anna Mae moved to the House of Peace, Platteville, where she has resided ever since. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church of Peace, where she was heavily involved in quilting and kit collecting at the church. Later in life she would volunteer in any way to help out at the Lutheran Church of Peace. She loved making jewelry art, she was an avid reader, especially mysteries, and enjoyed doing word seek puzzles.

Anna Mae is survived by her two sons, Michael (Sandra) Kabele of Lancaster, WI, Mark (Ann) Kabele of Charles City, IA; five grandchildren, Sheila White, Justin (Ann) Kabele, Stacy (Jonathan) Funte, Jeremy (Lisa) Kabele, and Ryan (Brandi) Kabele; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, and her parents.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM, Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
