Obituary

Lorna Mae McDonald, 83, lifelong resident of Truman, WI, died on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Truman.  Rev. John Bosco will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Melby Funeral Home and Crematory, Platteville.  There will be an American Legion Auxiliary Service immediately followed by a scripture wake service starting at 2:45 p.m.  Friends may also call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Lorna Mae McDonald Memorial Fund.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com

Lorna Mae was born on December 4, 1933 in Platteville, to Edward and Idella (Rehmstedt) Amenda.  She was united in marriage to Patrick J. McDonald on February 19, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  She worked at the Bridal Boutique, Platteville, for many years.  She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and served as cemetery sexton for 30 years.  Lorna Mae was the volunteer coordinator for the Red Cross Blood Drives at Belmont for 30 years, taking over when her mother, Idella, retired.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Whirly Bird Homemakers.  She and Patrick enjoyed their team of horses, Daisy and Danny, which they drove for many years.  They were members of the Iowa County Teamsters and Riders, and the Belmont Saddle Club.  Lorna Mae was known for her many handmade Christmas decorations and large Christmas village.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Patrick; five children, Dennis (Mary) McDonald and Mike (Denise) McDonald all of Belmont, WI; Julie (Steve Walstrum) McDonald of Dubuque, IA; Jerry (Rose) McDonald of Beaver Dam, WI; Tim (Nicky) McDonald of Mineral Point, WI; 11 grandchildren, Carrie (Michael) Vida, Tony (Jess) McDonald, Brian (Leah) McDonald, Katie (Steve) Sedbrook, Pam (Rick) Johnstone, Scott (Ashley) McDonald, Jeff McDonald, Vicki (Mitch) Webb, Ken (Liz) McDonald, Laura (Matt Mayer) McDonald, Mandy (Andy) Dahlheimer; 14 great-grandchildren, Collin and Alexis Vida, Ashley, Bradley, and Cora McDonald, Hailey, Landon, and Blaine McDonald, Kloe and Avvy Sedbrook, Phillip, Violet, and Walter Johnstone, and Calon Dahlheimer; special nephews, Paul (Deb) McDonald of Chicago, Peter (Amy) McDonald of Onalaska, WI; Andy (Alicia) McDonald of Milwaukee; brother, Larry (Judy) Amenda of Belmont, sister-in-law, Jeanne Amenda of Johnson City, NY; uncle and aunt, Lester and Margie Amenda of Janesville, WI; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Camilla McDonald, Lawrence and Cathy McDonald, Judy Byrnes, and Teresa Lehner, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Robert Amenda.
