Obituary

Michael Thomas McDonald, 53, of DeSoto, Wisconsin, died on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from injuries sustained from the flooding in Vernon County, Wisconsin. Memorial services will be at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Father Dave Flanagan will officiate. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Michael was born on May 14, 1963 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Patrick and Marlene (Winter) McDonald. He worked as a journeyman carpenter. Mike was a “Jack of all trades” where he could work on and fix anything technical, mechanical and using his carpentry skills. He enjoyed spending time with his two sons, Daniel and Augustus, where they spent many days at Black Hawk Park and doing motorsports with them. Mike also enjoyed boating.

He is survived by his two sons, Daniel and Augustus and their mother, Sherry McDonald all of Prairie du Chien, WI; mother, Marlene Chamberlain of Platteville; brother, Charles (Marcie) Harwick of Montfort, WI and their family, Chanel, Isabelle and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Patrick James McDonald.

I am sorry to read about the passing of Michael. I worked with Pat for years hanging drywall and he was our neighbor before that. A mother shouldn't have to endure the passing of 1 son, let alone 2. We are very saddened for all of your family especially the children. . I only met Mike 1 time, but thought he was a real nice guy. Dave Walker
