Mark D. Adrian, 60, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, died of a heart attack at his home in Platteville on February 25, 2016. A lifelong resident of Platteville, Mark was born on September 23, 1955 in Platteville, son of Keith and Clara (Geaheart) Adrian.

Mark had a generous and caring heart and was actively involved in many community initiatives. He served on the board of directors for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Foundation. His many passions included travel, fitness, biking, tennis, skiing, camping, golfing and boating. He enjoyed UW Badger sports, the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. He mostly enjoyed the camaraderie with family members and friends that these activities brought him.

Mark's hospitality career was launched at age 18 when he became the General Manager of Hardee's in Platteville. He was awarded “GM of the Year” in 1978 and 1979. Mark constructed his own Hardee's Restaurant in 1983 and went on to build a number of restaurants and hotels. With his wife as his life partner, they operated Midwest Hospitality Management, Inc. for the past 25 years. Mark continued to serve as the Managing Member for Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Watertown, WI. Mark was proud of the fact that he passed his entrepreneurial spirit on to his sons.

Most importantly, Mark cherished his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Lori Duggan, in Platteville in 1976. She survives along with their two sons, Kyle (Jackie) Adrian; Chad Adrian; grandson, Lucas Adrian; brother, Lane (Debbie) Adrian; sister Juli (Troy) Haller; father and mother-in-law, Merle and Beth Duggan and nieces and nephews. Mark is also survived by countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Mark's life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at United Methodist Church, Platteville. Rev. Dr. Elmer M. Colyer will officiate. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Memorials may be made to the Mark D.
