Marie C. VanNatta, 91, of Belmont, died on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Park Place Assisted Living, Platteville. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Belmont. Father Monte Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Belmont. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a parish rosary at 8:00 p.m., friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Marie C. VanNatta Memorial fund. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com Marie was born in Harrison Twp., Grant County the daughter of William and Cecelia (Holzer) Pennekamp. She was united in marriage to George Edward VanNatta on September 3, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1991. Marie was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, Belmont. She babysat for many children over the years, and she enjoyed collecting precious moments. Marie was the family historian for the Pennekamp and VanNatta families and could recite from memory many people's family trees. She is survived by her ten children, Susan (Terry) Basye of Beloit, WI; Jayne (Gary) Wedige of Platteville; Beverly (Gary) Haney of Platteville; Barbara VanNatta of Prairie du Chien, WI; Daniel (Debra) VanNatta of Belmont; Bonita “Bonnie” (Richard) White of Freeport, IL; James VanNatta of Platteville; William (Tammie) VanNatta of Platteville; John (Mimi) VanNatta of Dickeyville, WI; Jerome VanNatta of Madison; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ada Osterholz of Platteville; one brother, Ralph (Sally) Pennekamp of Edgerton, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Francis, Lawrence, George, William and Joseph Pennekamp and two sisters, Alice Pennekamp and Gertrude Reese.
