Edith E. Wetter, 88, of Platteville, died on Monday, September 26, 2011, at Gray’s Nursing Home, Platteville. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Platteville United Methodist Church. Rev. Brenda Whitford will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com Edith was born on March 29, 1923 in Elizabeth, Illinois, the daughter of William and Myrtle (Sertle) Harris. She was united in marriage to Donald Wetter on October 18, 1944 in Lancaster, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2005. She was a teacher’s aid for many years at the Platteville Pre-School. She was a member of the Platteville United Methodist Church, where she was active in the church circle and the annual Holiday Bazaar. She was active in the Platteville City Do’ers 4-H and Platteville Homemakers. She enjoyed camping, doing crafts and especially spending time with her family. She is survived her six children, Gary (Rosena) Wetter of Platteville; Bill (Becky) Wetter of Lancaster; Dennis (Kathy) Wetter, David (LuAnn) Wetter, Janet (Booner) Brinkman and Suzanne Wetter all of Platteville; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald (Gussie) Harris of Coleen, TX; Todd Harris of Janesville, WI; Harold (Gwen) Harris of Augusta, GA; one sister, Barbara (Bill) Burroughs of Galena, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Morris Harris, sisters, Charlotte Hatfield, and Ardyth Schick, three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
